Sketching in Barcelona really enabled us to connect to what we were seeing to get a much deeper understanding of the buildings and their context. I found doing floor plans was exceptionally helpful to my understanding; although, I also did my best to understand light, proportion, scale, mass, and void. The sketches below are a few that were selected and are diverse in subject and what I was focusing on- much like the people, sculptures, and architecture I saw in this incredible city.

Explorations of space: Barcelona Pavilion

Playing with proportion: Arc de Triomf

Sketch of a local man

Sculpture 2

A page of thoughts and explorations... not a sketch exactly but a tiny bit (page 2 of 4) of what I had cumulatively learned over 3 days of sketching!
